No Hate In Washington State

A picture of young people holding signs opposing I-001 and I-638.

Waters Meet Action Fund is proud to support the No Hate in Washington State campaign to defeat I-001 and I-638.

These measures are part of a MAGA-backed initiative effort to single-out and scapegoat 2SLGBTQIA+ youth.

I-001 would:

  • Removes common sense protections from victims of child abuse, increasing the risk of abuse.
  • Force schools to “out” LGBTQ+ students to families, even when doing so could expose them to abuse or homelessness.
  • Make it harder for students to safely report bullying, depression, violence, or sexual abuse.
  • Disrupt classrooms, giving a small group of extremist parents the power to interfere with what teachers can teach and exposing schools to costly lawsuits

I-638 would:

  • Subject all girls at the K-12 level to invasive genital exams just to participate in school sports—while boys are exempt.
  • Roll back a successful, common sense policy that has allowed Washington schools to handle complex sport situations on a case-by-case basis since 2007.
  • Institute a statewide blanket ban against trans girls in school sports.
  • Increase the risk of abuse and discrimination, particularly for Black, brown, immigrant, low-income, and rural girls who already face medical barriers.

Please join us in opposing these misguided and dangerous initiatives.
